Should you be allowed to miss school to go on holiday?
Your next holiday
might seem like a long way off but there's a row brewing about when school kids
in England should be able to take them. Last month, the government made changes
so head teachers can no longer allow absence outside school holidays, unless
there are exceptional circumstances. It's
because of concerns that some kids were missing school for family holidays
during term time when it's cheaper.
But more than
125,000 people disagree, signing a petition against the move. The petition
says: "All children who have a good attendance record should be allowed
the opportunity to enjoy quality time with their parents on an annual holiday
of up to 10 days once per year."
But the government says it's giving schools more freedom to set term
dates - which could mean parents could book cheaper holidays.
Well, this is a big argument. 125,000 is a lot!

My answer is NO. I believe that going to school is a good idea for your education. As a result, I disagree that we should go on holiday during the school term, because you will miss school days where you can learn and thoroughly enjoy more. Another reason why I think so is because people can’t afford to miss school, as children would be missing special, fun events happening at school apart from missing their favourite subjects as they go on holiday.
Currently a raise of 2.5 million families go on holiday during the term time and this is the worst happening now since 2006. I think this is really making an effect as more and more people have thought to go on holiday when school is there. So disappointed, Nick Gibbs, the education minister spoke to tell that unless it is a real emergency that he/she has to attend to, he would fine sixty pounds for any unauthorised absence committed over 5 days. The money would double if the money wasn’t paid in 20 days. However the shocking thing is that if the family has more than one child, it will cost more money. The trouble is that children miss very important lessons and techniques being taught in schools.
I feel that the government has made the perfect decision by saying that it is unacceptable to go on holiday during the school term because they think that the children who find it hard with their daily routine at school, won’t be able to catch up with their studies when they miss school for three days or over.
Although, there is need for spending quality time with family and friends far-off, unless there is an emergency situation (or) there is a big family event, holidays can always wait until end of term time-offs which usually is plentiful one-fifth of a calendar year.
Children also do not have the opportunity to complain, as when they go on holiday they might be missing their favourite subject or an exam that is vital for them. This will have a major impact, on the people who really think that school is a safe and happy place to be. Also, this is another reason why I strongly believe, that families shouldn’t go to school during term times.
So, for all the reasons listed above I think that missing school to go on holiday during term times isn’t a great idea at all. Nothing really can match a great day at school. Have you made up your mind now?

DeleteMy answer for this question is NO.I think that staying at school is better so you can learn lots and become very smart.There are a number of reasons why.
ReplyDeleteThe 1st point is that missing one day of school is alot of work to catch up with and alot of leaning.This can effect thier learning.Childrden might also have missed a lesson so next time they do that subject they won`t know what to do.
My 2nd reason is that the children might miss a very important and fun even.This can make a child upset.
Finally with all these reasons I think that you shouln`t go on hoilday in school time.I think that the government has made a really good choice of telling all head techers that children can`t go.
I say Yes, you should be allowed to miss school to go on holiday. I will explain the reasons why i think this.
ReplyDeleteSometimes you might want to spend some time with your family. And it also might be nice to have a break from school. Another reason is that you might not want to have as much stress than you have at school.
One of the most important reasons I said yes, is that there are lots of families who may not be able to afford to go on holiday, apart from during term time.
I think it is fairer for everyone if people are allowed to miss school to go on holiday.
I think we should have some holidays so we spend time with are family sometimes because it will be good spending times with your family that will be very good to so we should spend time with are family that will actually be very very very very good.
ReplyDeleteMy answer is no because childeren can easily say they were on holiday when they are not in school for long periods of time. These are the other reasons why I stand for this.
ReplyDeleteThe first reason is that a lot of childeren sometimes do anything to not go to school, so they might write a letter saying they did their homework but it was actully a letter saying they were on holiday.However, if this was banned in school days, they could send parents home and bring there child.
The second point is that this would greatly reduce the students knowlage and education.But if we were not allowed, they would have to cone to school.
The last issue is that childeren can miss their favorite subject or even miss a rare or fun and exiting lesson. This could greatly upset a child.
So, I persanoly think childeren shoud be banned from missing school to go on holiday.
My answer is NO!!!!!!! because school is important and missing school means you miss your education. Also, there are a number of reasons why children shouldn't go on holidays.
ReplyDeleteThe first reason is that we get holidays so we get chances to go to another country anyway. But also children could miss their favourite subjects like P.E, music, French. This could VERY upset children.
The second reason is that children can miss a lot of education if they go on holidays for a long time. Also they can learn less than other children. If you do learn while you're on holiday at least you learn something rather than just playing around all the time.
The third reason is that children can be thinking about everything that's happening in school and just want to know everything in school like if there 's a new person or there's a new building site. Also, they might be sad because of this and wish they could be in school.
Finally children think that they would have been in school once there're bored. It isn't always when children are happy while their on holiday. So I think going on holiday is a bad idea.
